About Us
Introduction
The Waterford City Childcare Committee (WCityCC) is one of a nationwide network of 33 County and City Childcare Committees. The Committee has developed and is currently implementing their local strategy for childcare under the National Childcare Strategy 2006-2010.
The Childcare Committee supports the development of quality childcare services to meet the needs of families in Waterford City. Childcare services include Childminders, Community and Private Childcare Providers, Pre-schools in National schools and Parents.
The Committee prepares annual plans and supports the childcare sector in a number of ways, for example:
· Provision of Training
· Support to networks
· Access to grants
· Carrying out Research
· Hosting of conferences
· Information/guidance on setting up a service
· Advice and grants to Parent and Toddler groups
· Provision of resource materials
· Representing the sector on local, regional and national bodies/organisations
