Continuing Professional Development is the name given to learning related to work that goes on throughout your working life. Participating in CPD can be very beneficial to the children you work with and ensuring that you achieve your own goals. This can be done through Networking and training.

Provider Networks
WCityCC facilitates meetings for provides on a quarterly basis. There are 3 networks for those working in childcare services. The Community Providers, Private Providers and Preschools in National Schools Networks. At present the School Age Network is being developed.
The networks meet on a quarterly basis and the meetings are held either in WCityCC offices or are hosted by childcare services. The purpose of the meetings is information sharing and peer support. Providers can discuss issues relevant to their sector and share ideas and initiatives. They can also request specific talks or training relevant to their own area within the sector as a whole. Previous trainings have included Customer care, Storytelling, Energy Saving and Cost cutting, Inclusion of children with different needs.
Providers also learn from the experience of others in the group in terms of issues that arise and also development of their services and find the meetings valuable in terms of linking in with each other.
Waterford Association of Childhood Professionals is the professional body representing practitioners in Early Years and School Age care and education, encompassing all early childhood workers in Waterford City and County. The aim of the association is to create a united voice to address issues that affect the professiobn. Men in Childcare Network
The Network has existed since 2004 and was formed by men working in the ECCE sector, Childcare Committees and other stakeholders. The main aim of the MiC Network is to work towards an increased representation of men in the Childcare sector in Ireland with particular emphasis on the benefits of the child.
