Childcare Committees are the local lead childcare organisation in each County and the first point of contact for the public on all matters related to childcare. They co-ordinate local delivery of childcare, help to develop appropriate responses to meet local needs, and provide support to local childcare providers (including childminders).
The Waterford City Childcare Committee (WCityCC) offers a wide variety of services locally including; advice and information on the Government supported childcare schemes, advice on setting up a childcare business and training; childcare information sessions; training courses and resources for those working in childcare or considering a career in childcare. It also offers supports to parents, such as providing information on local childcare facilities, support schemes, parent & toddler groups and parenting courses.
The Committee is represented on the City Development Board(CDB), and its subcommittees and it continues to deliver on a number actions and initiatives in collaboration with the HSE, FAS, VEC, Dept of Social Protection, Waterford Area Partnership and the local Family Resource Centres.
