The National Childcare Investment Programme (NCIP) 2006-2010..
announced in December 2005, came into effect on 1 January 2006 and succeeded the existing Equal Opportunities Childcare Programme (EOCP) 2000-2006.

The four year strategic plan ‘Advancing Childcare and Early Education for Every Child’ (2007-2010) was launched on 10th Dec 2007 by Minister Martin Cullen TD. The launch which was chaired by Mr Jim Hewison, Chairperson was attended by 55 participants. Speaking at the launch Minister Martin Cullen said ‘the plan is dedicated to shaping childcare provision across the city to reflect fully the changing nature of cultural, social and physical diversity”.
