The Waterford City Childcare Committee (WCityCC) is the first point of contact for the public on all matters related to childcare. It offers a wide variety of services locally including; advice and information on the Government supported childcare schemes, advice on setting up a childcare business; childcare information sessions; training courses for those considering a career in childcare. It also offers services to parents, such as providing information on local childcare facilities and information on parent networks.
The WCity CC develops an annual programme of work based on the recently launched National Strategic Plan 2011-2013 for Early Childhood Care and Education Programmes.
Update on Changes for Waterford City Childcare Committee
In 2012 the DCYA decided that Childcare Committees located in areas where Local Authorities are merging would also merge in 2013.
The planning for the merge of Waterford City and Waterford County Childcare Committees has already begun. This merge will involve the establishment of one company, one office base, one staff team, one budget and one plan of work to support the childcare sector in Waterford city and county by the end of 2013.
If you would like to share your views on the plans to merge the CCCs and how you think this may impact on you as a parent or childcare worker we would be pleased to hear from you. Please email your comments/views to info@waterfordcitychildcare.com
